Pitchill, part of the Salford Priors civil parish in Warwickshire, is a rural village with an agricultural character. The parish, which includes communities such as Abbot's Salford, Dunnington, Iron Cross, Rushford and Mudwalls, had a population of 1,546 in 2011. It lies on the Warwickshire border with Worcestershire, approximately four miles south‑west of Alcester and eight miles from the tourist town of Stratford‑upon‑Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare. The River Avon runs nearby, and Evesham, an important agricultural centre and soft fruit‑growing area, is seven miles to the south‑west. The Salford Priors ward, covering Pitchill and surrounding villages, recorded a population of 1,492 in the 2001 census.
