This property is located in Litton, a village in Derbyshire’s Peak District, within the SK 17 postal district. The area is known for its scenic countryside and proximity to the Monsal Trail, a former railway line turned recreational path.
Litton, Derbyshire is a village and civil parish situated in the Peak District of England. According to the 2011 Census the population was 675, which includes the area of Cressbrook within the parish. The village is noted for its location along the Monsal Trail, a cycling, horse riding and walking trail that follows the valley of the River Wye. The trail was created from a section of the former Manchester, Buxton, Matlock and Midland Junction Railway, built by the Midland Railway in 1863 to link Manchester with London. The railway closed in 1968 and the trail opened in 1981. It is approximately 8.5 miles (13.7 km) long, beginning at the Topley Pike junction in Wye Dale, about 3 miles east of Buxton, and running to Coombs Viaduct, 1 mile south‑east of Bakewell. Along the route the trail passes through Blackwell Mill, Chee Dale, Millers Dale, Cressbrook, Monsal Dale, Great Longstone, Hassop and Bakewell, and includes landmarks such as Headstone Viaduct, Cressbrook Mill, Litton Mill and Hassop railway station, as well as six tunnels.
