The village’s history is tied to the former Aberayron branch of the Carmarthen to Aberystwyth Line, which served the hamlet and the nearby estate of Tyglyn. Ciliau‑Aeron Halt was a modest railway station on this line, opened by the Lampeter, Aberayron and New Quay Light Railway.
