Ferwig is situated within the town and community of Cardigan, in the county of Ceredigion, Wales. Cardigan is positioned on the tidal reach of the River Teifi at the point where Ceredigion meets Pembrokeshire. Historically, it was the county town of Cardiganshire and remains the second‑largest town in Ceredigion, after Aberystwyth, which is one of the two administrative centres of the county. The town is bypassed by the A487 road along the coast, with its junction with the A478 road to Tenby lying to the south of the town.
