Llanwenarth, Crickhowell, NP8 1EP

The River Usk rises on the northern slopes of the Black Mountain within the westernmost part of the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. Initially it forms the boundary between Carmarthenshire and Powys, before flowing north into Usk Reservoir. It then continues east through Sennybridge to Brecon, after which it turns southeast and passes by Talybont-on-Usk, Crickhowell and Abergavenny. From there the river takes a more southerly course. The locality of Llanwenarth, Crickhowell is positioned along this river’s path, offering residents and visitors a connection to the natural landscape of the national park and the surrounding valleys. The river’s course through the area provides a scenic and historic element to the character of the village and its surroundings.
