The area is historically linked to the former Ledbury and Gloucester Railway, where Four Oaks Halt served as a request stop. The halt opened on 16 October 1937 and closed in 1959 when passenger services were withdrawn from the line. Nearby, Newent railway station served the town of Newent and opened on 27 July 1885 as part of the Newent Railway. The station was part of the network that linked the town to the wider region.
