Chartershall, Stirling, FK7 8HF

Chartershall is situated in the parish of St Ninians in Stirling, Scotland, a city in central Scotland 26 miles northeast of Glasgow and 37 miles northwest of Edinburgh. Stirling is surrounded by rich farmland and has a medieval old town with merchants and tradesmen, an old bridge and a port that are all linked to its history. The city sits on the River Forth and serves as the administrative centre for the Stirling council area, traditionally the county town of Stirlingshire. Its position as the lowest bridging point of the River Forth before it broadens towards the Firth of Forth has made it a focal point for travel north or south. Stirling’s status as the “Gateway to the Highlands” has historically lent it great strategic importance, with the credo “he who holds Stirling, holds Scotland” sometimes attributed to Robert the Bruce.
