Fallin, Stirling, FK7 7JU

Fallin is a former pit village in Central Stirling, in the county of Stirlingshire. It was on the site of the Polmaise Colliery 3 & 4, and both the names Polmaise and Fallin were commonly used. The area is regarded as the last traditional pit village in Scotland. The locality lies on the A905 road, 3 miles east of Stirling, on a bend in the River Forth. According to the 2001 United Kingdom census, the population was 2,710. The village’s history as a coal mining community is reflected in its name and heritage sites, while its proximity to Stirling and the River Forth offers a mix of rural charm and access to urban amenities. Residents benefit from the local road network and the scenic river bend that characterises the setting of Fallin.
