Arbroath is a town situated in the Scottish council area of Angus. It is represented on the Angus Council by seven councillors: four from the ward of Arbroath West, Letham and Friockheim and three from Arbroath East. The town’s history includes the North British, Arbroath and Montrose Railway, a company established by the North British, Arbroath, and Montrose Railway Act of 1871 to construct and operate a railway line from north of Arbroath via Montrose to Kinnaber Junction, a distance of 38 miles (61 km) south of Aberdeen. The company was originally a subsidiary of the North British Railway but was absorbed into its parent in 1880. The historical railway links highlight the area’s connection to broader transport networks and its development during the industrial era.
