Alresford, Essex is a village and civil parish in the Tendring district. The settlement lies about 9 km (5.6 mi) southeast of Colchester and 39 km (24 mi) northeast of the county town of Chelmsford. According to the 2021 census the parish had a population of 2,462. The village has a primary school, a pre‑school and a church. Alresford won the Essex Village of the Year competition in 2012 and tied for first place for another Essex Village of the Year award in 2019. The local community is small and has received recognition for its character and quality of life.
